Gilliard also serves as an adjunct professor at North Park Theological Seminary and serves on the board of directors for the Christian Community Development Association. In 2015, the Huffington Post named him one of the “Black Christian Leaders Changing the World.” Gilliard’s forthcoming book, Subversive Witness: Scripture’s Call to Leverage Privilegewill be released on August 24, 2021.

Dr. Stephany Rose Spaulding is pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, associate professor of Women’s and Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) and former U.S. Senate candidate for the state of Colorado. She holds a B.A. in English from Clark Atlanta University, as well as a M.A. in American Literature and a Ph. D. in American Studies both from Purdue University. She is the author of Recovering from Racism: A Guidebook to Beginning Conversations (2015) and Abolishing White Masculinity from Mark Twain to Hiphop: Crisis in Whiteness (2014).

Doug Pagitt and Robb Ryerse sit down with Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan to talk common good politics.
U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, engineer, entrepreneur, and educator who is continuing her career of service as the first woman ever to represent Pennsylvania's 6th District in Congress.
Chrissy is the daughter and granddaughter of Holocaust survivors who came to America with nothing. She grew up in a military family; her parents met when her father and grandfather flew P3s in the same Navy squadron. She earned her engineering degree from Stanford with an ROTC scholarship that launched her service in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves, and later earned her M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT.
Chrissy has helped lead several thriving Southeastern Pennsylvania companies including AND1, a basketball apparel company headquartered in Paoli, and B Lab, the organization that launched the B Corporation movement. She went on to serve in Teach for America as a chemistry teacher at Simon Gratz High School in North Philadelphia, and then led and scaled a non-profit helping thousands of underserved students all across America build their literacy skills.
These experiences helped shape her political vision of a great nation united by common values that leaves no one behind. She is committed to fighting for access to quality, affordable healthcare, common sense gun safety, government accountability and transparency, and working to build a strong, stable economy with good jobs and good benefits for everyone

Erin Wise, MD is an Internal Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalist. She originally hails from Indiana where she completed medical school and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. One of the great joys of her job is to be able to take care of patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly and everything in between. When not roaming the halls of the hospital, she can most often be found spending time with her husband and 4 amazing kids.
Paul Wallace is an astrophysicist, professor, pastor, and avid birder. H writes and speaks at the intersection of faith and science and holds a PhD in physics from Duke University and an MDiv from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.

Laura, Dominique and Doug sit down with poet-priest Malcolm Guite to talk about the intersections of poetry, lament, and justice as well as his new book, David's Crown: A Poetic Companion to the Psalms.
Malcolm Guite is an English poet, singer-songwriter, Anglican priest, and academic. Born in Nigeria to British expatriate parents, Guite earned degrees from Cambridge and Durham universities. His research interests include the intersection of religion and the arts, and the examination of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and British poets. He is currently a Bye-Fellow and chaplain of Girton College, Cambridge and associate chaplain of St Edward King and Martyr in Cambridge. Guite is the author of five books of poetry, including two chapbooks and three full-length collections, as well as several books on Christian faith and theology. Guite has a decisively simple, formalist style in poems, many of which are sonnets, and he stated that his aim is to "be profound without ceasing to be beautiful". Guite performs as a singer and guitarist fronting the Cambridgeshire-based blues, rhythm and blues, and rock band "Mystery Train".

Faith leaders and directly impacted immigrants are holding the #WeAreEssential Fast for Freedom to shine a spotlight on our nation’s moral obligation to fully and finally include our immigrant siblings as part of the American family.
Several dozen fasters are gathering in stages for at least 3 weeks to encourage Congress to utilize the jobs and infrastructure package and budget reconciliation to codify a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented community members – many of whom have kept our families and our economy functioning as essential workers during the pandemic.

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Laura Peniche is an undocumented storyteller, based in Colorado. Her documentary film debut: “No One Shall Be Called Illegal” showcased at the Denver International Starz Film Festival(2011); and she was a key producer in the documentary film: “Five Dreamers”(2018) which has continuously aired on Rocky Mountain and National PBS since its release. Laura has worked as project manager for Motus Theater's UndocuAmerica Project, and actively shared her own immigrant experience on local and national stages as a Motus Theater UndocuAmerica Monologist. Since 2016, she has also been a leader with Together Colorado's immigration committee, doing grassroots organizing with multi-faith leaders. She is also currently Hotline Manager for the Colorado Immigrants Rights Coalition.
Nanci Palacios is a DACA recipient and Lead Community Organizer with Faith in Florida. Nanci has seen fears rise in immigrant communities as local sheriffs have upped arrests and detentions to help federal immigration agents deport immigrants.
