Mariann Budde is the Episcopal Bishop of Washington DC.
She is a great leader and the author of the fabulous book How We Learn to Be Brave.
Her responsibilities include the oversight of the National Cathedral and 80+ other churches and institutions in the DC area.
One of those churches is St John's Church at Lafayette Square right near the White House.
This is the church that Donald Trump used as the backdrop for his egregious "photo-op" holding a bible after ordering the clearing of the square by military personnel.
Bishop Mariann's clear condemnation of that action thrust her into national attention.

We will discuss how the Federal Budget works and why something like an arbitrary "ceiling" is wrong-headed.
The US Federal Government doesn't "spend" money, it creates money. It is a "Sovereign Currency." Like all Sovereign Currencies it is different than all State and Local government spending.
